The Great Circuit

Day 1
Depart from our Nairobi office at 8.00am, in our 9-seater minibuses with “pop-up roofs” for Sarova Shaba or a similar lodge arriving at lunch time. Situated in Shaba Game Reserve, Shaba is described as an “oasis in the desert”. The glories of nature are concentrated here along-side thatched roofed cottages which are tastefully furnished with local stone and timber, adding to the luxurious yet wild image. Shaba is an ornithological paradise where over 100 different species of birds can be seen. There is a viewing deck above the river, where one can spot the birds or watch the crocodiles clamber onto the sandbank. The open air restaurant, overlooking the river and swimming pool offers sumptuous meals. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2
After breakfast, leave for a game drive in Shaba Game Reserve. It is set in the hostile severe bushland of the hot and arid fringes of Kenya’s vast northern region. Shaba Reserve hosts a variety of wildlife such as buffaloes, elephants, cheetahs, lions and leopards. The Somali ostrich, gerenuk, besia, oryx, Grevy’s zebra and reticulated giraffe are some of the rare animals found only in Shaba. All meals and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3
Depart from Shaba after breakfast for Sarova Lion Hill Camp/similar set on a plateau in the Rift Valley overlooking one of the world’s greatest ornithological spectacles, Lake Nakuru. The panoramic view from the lodge reveals a shimmering pink glow across the lake created by millions of flamingoes, pelicans and Marabou storks. All meals and overnight at the camp.

Day 4
Leave for Masai Mara Game Reserve after breakfast. The reserve is famous for its spectacular annual wildebeest migrations from Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. Arrival at Sarova Mara / Ol tome Mara at lunch-time. Sarova Mara camp is a luxury tented camp situated on a natural elevation between two streams. The camp is an ideal base for safaris to this “Lion and Elephant” country. All meals and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 5
The day will be spent having game drives in the Mara plains – an adventure in the richest game sanctuary in Kenya. All meals and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 6
Depart for Nairobi after breakfast, arrival by lunch-time.
